Photography / Presentation of Designs

As we are quarantined one way or another I have chosen to take photos by myself. I had to postpone the professional photographer because of COVID-19.

However, I do believe that the pieces speak for themselves and that my amateur eye for photography does not take away from the aesthetic of the work.

Presentation of work

I have had a fair share of awful reactions to my creations - mainly from my husband and mother, my devoted critics, who will react in a fashion that is not favourable to say the least. ‘really, that colour? ’Or ‘you need to plan your colours ahead’.

Now, instead of getting offended, I started to think what can I do to change that so my colour choice is more acceptable. So I went to the basics. Since I have an outfit in mind when creating a shawl for instance, when I finish the shawl, I present it to my best critics (mum and hubby) with the whole outfit – skirt, shoes, jacket, even jewelery. And the reactions were completely different. For the first time they started commenting that the shawl is perfect for the outfit and that I have chosen well.This, now, after all the turmoil, makes a complete sense. Therefore, all of my designs are presented with a full outfit to say to myself – at least I have tried. Therefore, if the audience does not like the colour that is fine but when I have combined and presented has to match 😊
